The marker tool

The marker tool lets you place markers (icons) on your images and maps. Markers let you attach meaning to various locations in your images. Markers are easily recognized and language-independent.

The marker tool automatically uses the default icon, unless you select a different icon from the drop-down list. (The default icon is set on the Defaults tab of the Preferences dialog box. You can change the default icon at any time.)

To add a marker to an image:

1   Click the marker tool or click the arrow for its drop-down list.

2   Click the desired icon (if you don't want to use the default icon). The cursor changes to a crosshair.

Note:  Selecting an icon from the drop-down list sets that icon as the default icon on the Defaults tab of the Preferences dialog box.

3   Click the location in the image at which to place the icon.

The icon is placed on the image in the location you clicked. The icon and the text "Marker" are shown in the default annotations folder in the Workspace panel. The annotation's properties (its icon, scale, and description in the Workspace panel) can be changed at any time.
